Nick Fennel describes himself as a “water baby”. His canvases aim at the heart of the water baby in us all, evoking a sense of our first environment with its dark, comforting and fluid rhythms. Trained as an architect, he has answered a calling to paint water in all its forms. Having lived near various shores, he now makes a home on Skagit Bay.
Jeffrey Hanks has been making ceramic vessels his entire adult life. Having perfected a classical aesthetic, he now subjects his forms to elements of fire beyond his control. This mid career practice involves a commitments to non-attachment to any preconceived result. And the results are captivating.
